BULK GARBAGE

Bulk garbage (other than recyclable metals) will be collected free of charge from residential households on an appointment basis according to the schedule for 2010 shown below. Each residential household will have three opportunities for bulk collection during the twenty week program.

What types of material will be collected as bulk garbage?

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS:
mattresses
box springs
sofas
chairs
furniture
televisions
computers
bathroom fixtures
carpet tied in rolls (maximum 6 feet long and 50 lbs.)
tree limbs tied in bundles (maximum 6 feet long and 50 lbs.)
glass (securely packaged and identified)
other bulk items normally associated with a residential household

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS:

white goods and other recyclable metals - you must make a separate appointment to have these items collected as a recyclable metals collection
hazardous wastes such as paints, chemicals, solvents, propane/gas/oil tanks, batteries, etc.
regular household garbage
large trees and stumps
earthen materials
construction materials
roof shingles
concrete
brick
vehicle parts
tires
liquids
other items not normally associated with a residential household

How do I make an appointment for a free bulk garbage pick-up?
Call 3-1-1, 24 hours a day, during the time period listed for making appointments for your residential garbage collection area.

How will I know when my area is scheduled for free bulk garbage pick-up?
The schedule for bulk garbage pick-up appointments is as follows. The bulk garbage collection areas are the same as the residential garbage collection areas. If you are unsure of your residential garbage collection area click here to search for your collection area.
