The Rooms, 9 Bonaventure Avenue

Sound Symposium presents its annual winter community concert at The Rooms. This year, we'll be dancing it up with The Old Contemporaries on Sunday, December 29 starting at 2:00pm.

This event is FREE and open to EVERYONE.

Bring the kids and your dancing shoes!

The Old Contemporaries are an acoustic 5-piece band that gather around one mic to play their favourite songs old and new. Comprised of Andrew Laite, Adam Smith, Maria Cherwick, Lucas Rose, and Josh Ward, their string-band sound is rich in harmonies and hot-fire on the breaks. The OC plays an eclectic mix of styles and arrangements to create a timeless sound.

Sound Symposium produces new, experimental, and improvisational sound art events in St. John's, Newfoundland. Our twentieth symposium will be taking place July 10-19, 2020 -- a celebration of drumming, percussion, and rhythm. In addition to the biennial symposium, Sound Symposium produces Night Music, a monthly improvisational music series at The Ship Pub, and ONSOUND, an annual mini-festival that focuses on a different style of music every year. Keep your ears tuned to the St. John's harbour throughout the year to catch special renditions of Harbour Symphonies. Sound Symposium produces these on-demand performances for visiting ships and on special occasions.
