On average, St. John’s receives 335 cm of snow each year. In the winter of 2000-2001 we measured our greatest total snowfall of 648 cm.
The City of St. John's budgets approximately $15 million each year for snow clearing and ice control operations.
The Winter On-Street Parking Ban usually begins the first Wednesday after New Year’s Day, however it is being implemented early this year due to recent significant snowfalls and more in the forecast. The On-Street Parking Ban comes into effect at 12:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec.16, 2016. Ensure your vehicle is off the street on Thursday evening, before midnight.
Once implemented, the ban is in effect daily from 12:30 to 7:30 a.m. regardless of weather or street conditions. The ban is lifted in the early spring.
