Fitness Programs Registered and Drop In Class Descriptions

Aqua Jog
Aqua Jog is jogging in the water, but there is actually more to it than that. If you’ve suffered certain kinds of knee or leg injuries that keep you from running on land while you recover, this program can be an excellent alternative to help you stay fit. 

Aqua Zumba®
Aqua Zumba keeps the Zumba® Fitness workout party going in the pool. Aqua Zumba is low-impact and appeals to anyone who likes Zumba but doesn’t want to get as hot as in the land-based classes. Aqua Zumba is classic aqua aerobics with Latin flavor added. Eighty to ninety per cent of your body weight is displaced in the water when the water is at your chest level. Thus your knees, hips and back undergo less pounding when doing Aqua Zumba. At the same time, your body works four times harder than on land.

Body Bar
Body Bar uses weighted bars, hand weights, stability balls and tubing to improve muscular strength and endurance.

Deep Water Fitness
This no impact fitness class incorporates a high energy cardiovascular workout in the deep end of the pool. Flotation belts and hand floats are used. All levels of swimmers are welcome.

Gentle Gym
Gentle Gym is designed to improve the strength of all muscles, bones and joints. It is ideal for improving the strength of the heart and lungs.

Gentle Water
Gentle Water takes part in the shallow end of our swimming pool and provides a low impact workout on bones and joints.

Kettle Bell
This class is broken down to perform ballistic exercises that combine cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training. Kettlebell exercises build strength and endurance, particularly in the lower back, legs, and shoulders, and increase grip strength. This class is suited to all levels from beginner to advanced.

Pilates
Pilates is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the entire body. The practice of Pilates movements, coupled with focused breathing patterns, has proven itself invaluable not only as a method to improve overall fitness, but to increased lung capacity and circulation.

Shallow Water Fitness
This low impact fitness class takes place in the shallow end of the pool. High Energy music combined with resistance exercises provide the participants with a cardio workout as well as development of muscular strength and endurance.

Step Circuit
The emphasis of this class is on improving the cardiovascular and strength systems using a variety of movements and equipment. This class is suited to all levels.

Stroller Fitness
Stroller Fitness is a workout consisting of cardio (walking or jogging), lunges, squats, push-ups, tricep dips, core and more. Stroller Fitness is energetic and motivating, this atmosphere is perfect for new parents and babies.

T'ai Chi Chih
A series of 20 gentle movements that promote serenity and a greater sense of well-being. T’ai Chi Chih is not a martial art form but rather a "moving meditation". With regular practice of T’ai Chi Chih, participant benefits may include enhanced relaxation, increased energy, improved balance, improved flexibility and circulation, improved sleep, regulation of blood pressure, cholesterol and metabolism, enhanced mental clarity and relief of arthritic pain and discomfort.

Yoga (Beginner)
This class is recommended for the beginning student of any age and fitness level. Learn a solid foundation of yoga poses plus the awareness to develop an informed, safe and precise yoga practice.

Yoga (Intermediate)
Develop the skills learned in Beginner Yoga. Learn how to improve upon the postures in beginner yoga while learning more challenging postures. Beginner Yoga experience is required.

Yoga (Mixed)
This class is designed for beginners and intermediates practising solid fundamentals, gaining a deeper awareness of your body while developing higher levels of focus, strength, flexibility and endurance. Modifications will be introduced to more complex poses allowing beginners to work at their own level.

Yoga (Power)
Power Yoga is a challenging and vigorous class that builds strength and flexibility through a series of inter-linking and challenging movements. This class is designed for participants with several years of intermediate yoga practice.

Yoga (Yin)
Yin Yoga is a quiet, introspective practice, which seeks to improve flexibility and circulation in the joints by applying moderate stress to the connective tissues (ligaments, tendons and fascia), mainly in the mid to lower body. Yin is a good complimentary practice to more active forms of exercise, and poses are typically held for longer periods of time than in a traditional Hatha practice (for 3-5 minutes most commonly). Yin practice is suitable for all levels and does not require previous yoga experience.

Zumba®
The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away.

Zumba® Gold
This class is designed for active older adults and those starting their fitness journey.  Zumba® Gold combines easy to follow moves with Latin and an international rhythm to create a fun fitness class that is less intense than regular Zumba® .

Zumba® Toning
Zumba® Toning takes the original Zumba dance-fitness class to the next level, utilizing an innovative muscle training protocol and the addition of light weight toning sticks or dumbbells. You'll learn how to use the weighted, maraca-like Zumba Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm, build strength and tone all the target zones.
