The City of St. John’s offers Day Camp Programs and Activity Centre Programs which provide an opportunity for children to play actively, master new skills and build new friendships in a safe environment with caring leaders. The programs we offer are designed to target the developmental needs of primary and elementary age children in a recreation setting. Our programs are based on the HIGH FIVE® philosophy and healthy child development is fostered through the following principles:

  • FUNdamental Movements

Day Camp and Activity Centre Programs are offered seasonally during Easter and Summer school holidays.

Easter Camps

Easter Camps will be held at various locations during the Easter break for children.
Registration starts Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 7 a.m.
Easter Program Information Package

April 22 to 26, 2019
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ages: 5 to 12 years (Kindergarten to Grade 6)

Program Sites:

  • Paul Reynolds Community Centre*, Group 1
  • Paul Reynolds Community Centre*, Group 2
  • Kilbride Lions Community Centre
  • Shea Heights Community Centre
  • Southlands Community Centre

*Paul Reynolds Community Centre offers two separate Easter camp programs for ages 5 to 12 years (those currently in Kindergarten to Grade 6). Due to the high demand for this program children will not be transferred from one group to the other and staff are unable to check rosters to confirm the attendance of other participants. We very much value friendship as essential to the development of children and our caring leaders will support friendships within the group your children has been registered.

                                                                                                                                                    
SUMMER DAY CAMPS

Summer Program Registration begins Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 7 a.m. Please ensure your account is up to date!
Camps run from July 2 to August 30 (with the exception of Camp Adventure at Macdonald Drive)

Day Camp Programs

Our summer camps keep children active and participating in games, sports, outdoor fun and occassional swimming and field trips! Children must have completed Kindergarden. Bus Available to Rotary 'Sunshine' Park only (see Information package).

Camp Discovery
Designed for children ages 6 to 8 (going to Grades 1 to 3 in Sept, 2019)

Camp Adventure
A combined program for 6 to 12 years (going to Grades 1 to 6 in Sept. 2019)

Ages 9 to 12 years (going to Grade 4 to 6 in Sept. 2019)

Explore Leadership
Be the next leader in your community. Develop leadership skills, confidence, and planning skills to learn that sharing your time and talents can benefit your community.

Ages: 10 to 12 years
 

Explore Art
Explore your artistic ability by joining us for a creative week of hand on activities such as painting, sketching, origami, jewerly making and much more.

Camp 1: July 8 to 12, 2019
Camp 2: August 12 to 16, 2019

Ages: 10 to 12 years

Activity Centre Programs

Activity Centre Programs will keep your children active and participating in games, sports and active outdoor fun. Our programs are based on the High Five Philosophy and Healthy Child Development is fostered through the following principles: Participation, Play, Mastery, Friends, A Caring Adult and FUNamental Movements. 

Activity Centre Information Package

Weekly registration from July 3 to Aug. 23. No lunch time supervision between noon to 1 p.m.
$35 per half day weekly session

  • Morning Session runs from 9 a.m. to noon (with early drop off at 8:30 a.m.)
  • Afternoon Session runs from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Program Sites:

  • Larch Park Activity Centre (drop off/pick up at Rennies River Elementary)
  • Cowan Park Activity Centre (drop off/pick up at St. Matthew's Elementary)
  • Parkside Community Centre

    

New Year's Camp

Kick off the new year by playing games, sports, swimming, arts and crafts, and having lots of fun. Check back in the new year.
