Become a R.E.A.L. Supporter

The REAL Program is fully dependent upon community support. There are a number of ways to demonstrate support of this great program.

  1. The business community and individuals can support the REAL Program through financial and in-kind donations. Income tax receipts can be issued upon request for financial donations.
  2. Donation of new or used recreation equipment and/or organization of equipment drives.
  3. You can now donate to the REAL Program by dropping off your recycling with Evergreen Recycling, account # 5768684.

100 per cent of your donation will be spent on program spaces, equipment and/or transportation costs for children and youth. The sooner you support this program, the sooner children and youth can get active.

Give the Gift of Play

City of St. John's Staff
City staff help support the REAL Program in many ways, they sign up for payroll deductions, recycle for REAL, host small fundraisers and take part in fundraising events. Thank you to all staff who have helped raise funds for REAL in the past and for those that will help in the future. As they say every dollar counts. We look forward to your continued support.

REAL held it's second Annual Staff Soccer Baseball Fundraiser in November 2017. Over 25 staff spent their morning having fun and playing soccer baseball with their coworkers. All players paid a $20 registration fee with all proceeds going to the REAL Program. This event raised more than $500, helping to support a minumum of 5 REAL participants.

Annual Employee Skolleyball Tournament took place on March 19, 2018. This year participants were asked to donate to the REAL Program. A huge shout out to all players who contributed. Thanks to you we were able to collect over $250, supporting a minimum of 2 REAL participants.

Cardbreak NL
Steve Healey is the owner of CardBreak NL, a local business specializing in sports cards and hockey memorabilia. Steve recalled his experience with REAL when he was a student as one that "always stuck with [him] because of its goal and purpose. Not all youth get a chance to take part in recreation but the REAL Program gives them an opportunity to do so and he wanted to give back. He asked his members about fundraising for REAL and they readily agreed." CardBreak NL's donation of $1,040 is greatly appreciated and will support access to recreation for children and youth from low income families living in St. John's.

Steve notes that CardBreak NL would not have been able to make this donation without "the support of each and every one of [their] members" and both Steve and REAL Program send out a huge thank you!

ANE Run Group
The ANE Run Group has been a great supporter of REAL for a number of years now. Traditionally they hold small equipment drives throughout the year but this past year they went a step further. In October 2017, the ANE Run Group held a Trivia Night fundraiser at Boston Pizza with all proceeds being donated to REAL. By all accounts it was a fun filled night and everyone had a great time. A total of $2084 was donated to REAL. Special thanks to all involved and those that took part, you guys are awesome. The REAL Program thanks you on behalf of the children and youth in St. John's.

Paint Night for REAL
Fall 2017 was full of firsts for REAL fundraising. With the help of Linda Burt, a former City of St. John's employee, REAL hosted two paint nights at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre. REAL would like to thank Linda. She was instrucmental in planning and running our two paint nights. Linda donated her time and talent and as a result helped raise over $500. The REAL Program would like to say a heartfelt thanks to you, your time has benefited five or more children and you of St. John's.
