Maggie Burton (she/her/elle) is a St. John’s City Councillor, musician, poet, and violin teacher. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from Memorial University where she specialized in violin and music history. She grew up in Brigus and currently lives downtown with her partner, Michael, her 3 young children, Jack, Ursula, and Edith, and their many small pets. 
First elected in 2017, her Council portfolio currently includes transportation, the St. John’s Transportation Commission, heritage, animal care and control. She maintains membership on the St. John’s Urban Indigenous Coalition, First Voice; the St. John’s Food Policy Council; and several other local boards and committees. Elle est toujours heureuse d'entendre ses électeurs en anglais et en français. Maggie can usually be found walking around St. John’s, reading a book in the park, or gardening in her backyard.
