Walk to End ALS - St. John's

ALS – Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a disease that gradually paralyzes people because the brain is no longer able to communicate with the muscles of the body. Over time, people living with ALS will lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and eventually breathe.

Living with ALS requires equipment:

  • Manual wheelchairs
  • Electric hospital beds
  • Lift out recliners
  • Walkers
  • BiPap beathing assists
  • Suction units
  • Bathroom assist

The ALS Society NL maintains an equipment pool, available on an as needed basis to ALS clients throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.  No ALS patient is turned away.

Now, After 2 years of being apart, we are excited to be able to finally come together for our biggest fundraiser for the year, to celebrate and honor everyone we have loved and lost to this disease and show support for Newfoundlanders and Canadians and their families living with ALS.
