Celebrating Our Volunteers

National Volunteer Week

This is National Volunteer Week in Canada.
The theme for 2020 – “It’s time to applaud this country’s volunteers!” -  encourages all Canadians to loudly and proudly cheer for Canada’s volunteers.
The City of St. John’s is proud to thank and acknowledge its hundreds of volunteers, working in a variety of roles. Our volunteers serve on committees and working groups, participate in our programming and even go on from their volunteer roles to become employees of the municipality.
Although we cannot hold our usual volunteer celebrations this year, the City wants all volunteers to know their value to our community.
We encourage all residents to print and the Cheers to Volunteers! Poster, developed by Volunteer Canada, in their windows for all to see. Also, all Canadians are asked to post Volunteer Canada’s gif on social media with the hashtags #CheersToVolunteers and #NVW2020.

You can also nominate a worthy individual for one of several City awards; nominations are now open.
