A construction project for flood mitigation is being planned along parts of Rennie's River from Kings Bridge Road to Carpasian Road. A virtual public meeting is being held in advance of submitting an environmental assessment application to the provincial government for this work.

The goal of this project is to remove the properties along Pringle Place, Vaughan Place, Winter Ave, King's Bridge Rd and The Boulevard from the floodplain, thus protecting them from flooding in the future.

To learn about the project details, background information and public engagement process:

  • Visit the engage page for the project
  • Register to attend the virtual information session on November 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Email engage@stjohns.ca
  • If you do not have online access you can call 311 or 754-CITY (2489) and ask to speak with a project representative.

Pending environmental assessment and approval, berming and retaining walls will be constructed along the rear of some Winter Ave, Pringle Place and Vaughan Place properties. This will impact the walking trail elevation behind some of these properties and may require some tree branch trimming along the walking trail.

If approved, this phase of the project will be designed during winter 2021, with construction to follow in spring/summer 2021.
