The City is considering a text and map amendment to the Envision St. John’s Development Regulations regarding wetlands. In response to City Council adopting the Wetlands Study Phase 2A on November 28, 2023, changes to Section 4.10 Waterways, Wetlands, Ponds or Lakes and Appendix C, Map 4 of the St. John’s Development Regulations are proposed.

Please be advised that the sewer cleaning and video inspection work that requires a road closure on Water Street from Clift’s-Baird’s Cove to Prescott Street is taking longer than expected. As a result, traffic will continue to be detoured to Harbour Drive on Friday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., however local access and parking will be available via the Clift’s-Baird’s Cove intersection.

The City of St. John’s and First Voice Urban Indigenous Coalition have formed a Joint Coordinating Committee on Indigenous Rights.
The committee will develop recommendations for implementing the City of St. John’s commitments outlined in Council’s 2020 Declaration in Support of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Reporting directly to Council and to the First Voice Partnership Table, the committee will strengthen collaboration to advance the urban Indigenous coalition’s 2023 Community Action Plan

Motorists are advised that the traffic lights at the Allandale Road/Bonaventure Avenue/Elizabeth Avenue intersection will be shut down starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8 to facilitate the installation of new traffic lights.
