The by-election for the vacant Ward 4 Council seat will take place on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The City will once again be using a vote-by-mail system.
A by-election is required following the resignation of Ward 4 Councillor Ian Froude, effective December 22, 2023. Under the Municipal Elections Act, a by-election must be held within three months of the vacancy occurring.

The City will use a vote-by-mail system for the Ward 4 election. You can confirm if you are a resident of Ward 4 by using the Ward Look Up.
Residents of Ward 4 should check the voters list to ensure they receive their vote-by-mail kit at the correct address. The City relies on the permanent list of electors provided by Elections NL. If you have recently moved and/or reached the voting age of 18, you may not be on the voters list. To determine if you are on the list and/or to register if you are not, visit the Voter Registration Portal.
Visit Voter List/Registration Portal Voters are encouraged to vote by mail or drop off completed ballots at the drop box located outside City Hall.
On election day (March 12), voters may also drop-off completed kits or cast their ballots at one of the following two satellite drop-off centres between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.:
Voters who intend to register to vote at satellite drop-off centre must have acceptable identification available.
