Updates to City of St. John's By-Laws

The City of St. John's would like to advise the public of five amendments to its by-laws which were approved at the Council Meeting on Tuesday, July 9. The amendments are detailed below. 

Plumbing By-Law (Amendment NO. 1-2024)

The St. John’s Municipal Council has enacted the St. John’s Plumbing (Amendment No. 1-2024) By-Law.

The amendment will make the process by which certification is accepted and authorizations of the use of the plumbing system more efficient.

Cruise Ship Zuiderdam Arrives July 14

The Zuiderdam with 2300 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 14, and depart at 10 p.m.

Orangemen’s Day Holiday 2024

Due to the Orangemen’s Day holiday on Monday, July 15, most City offices will be closed.

Please note the following:

• Garbage and recycling will be collected on Monday.
• The Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is open for commercial users only from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• All City parking by-laws are still in effect including paid parking regulations as Monday is not a Shops Closing holiday.

Traffic and Parking Impacts - King George V Soccer Event on July 14

On Sunday, July 14, the first match of the International Summer Series between the Halifax Wanderers and the Ipswich Town FC will take place at the King George V Park. To facilitate this event, there will be parking restrictions and road closures in effect.
