Trail and Park Closure - Tree Clearing Operations - Tree clearing operations required for construction of the Airport Heights to Paul Reynolds Community Centre Shared-Use Path is scheduled to start on Tuesday, April 7, and will be ongoing for approximately two weeks.
Water Street (between Waldegrave Street & Bishop's Cove) - To facilitate work for the Water Street Rehabilitation Project, a detour will be in place on Water Street from Waldegrave Street to Bishop’s Cove, Monday, April 6 and Tuesday, April 7.
Water Street Infrastructure Project - Work will begin in April and be completed by late spring 2026. During this time, residents and businesses in the immediate area may experience temporary sewer service disruptions, minor traffic delays, and reduced on-street parking. The City and contractor will share more details as timing is confirmed for affected properties.
Construction of New Roundabout at Portugal Cove Road, Major’s Path and Airport Heights Drive - The City of St. John’s is tentatively scheduled to begin construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Portugal Cove Road, Major’s Path and Airport Heights Drive on Monday, April 13, with work expected to continue until the end of 2026.
Temporary Road Closures to Facilitate Team Gushue Highway Construction - The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Transportation and Infrastructure wishes to advise the motoring public of upcoming road closures between March 25 and July 31 which are necessary to facilitate the ongoing completion of the final phase of Team Gushue Highway.
Check out a list of streets contractors may be working as part of the City's annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation.
