Active/Upcoming Advisories

• Torbay Road ( Vicinity of Pearson Street Intersection) - Motorists are advised there will be a temporary lane reduction in place for curb lane of Torbay Road in the vicinity of Pearson Street intersection. 

• Prescott Street (between Water Street and Military Road) - To facilitate exploratory work for the Prescott Street Infrastructure Project, periodic lane reductions will be in place. Flag persons will be on site. Motorists should expect delays. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

• Bidgood Park - The following areas within Bidgood Park are closed to the public due to localized flooding: Power’s Road parking lot and trails adjacent to the west side of the dog park.

• Kelly's Brook Park Trail - To facilitate construction of new accessible washrooms, the Shared-Use Path in Kelly’s Brook Park near Hoyles Avenue (including the trail connection to Hoyles Avenue) will be closed until November 21.

• Airport Heights Drive and Rhodora Street - Work continues to support the multi-year Major’s Path and Portugal Cove Road Improvements project. Starting Monday, October 27, lane reductions will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Airport Heights Drive and Rhodora Street to facilitate construction work. Work continues until fall 2025—expect slowdowns and detours. Pedestrian access remains open.

• Gleneyre Street/Paul Reynolds Community Centre Parking Lot - On Monday, October 20, construction will begin on the east side of the Airport Heights to Paul Reynolds Community Centre Shared-Use Path.

• Airport Heights to Penney Crescent Trail - The City of St. John’s has begun construction of a new 2.6 km shared-use path connecting Airport Heights to the Paul Reynolds Community Centre. The project is scheduled to conclude in fall 2026. To facilitate construction work, the trail connecting Airport Heights to Penney Crescent will be closed from Portugal Cove Road to the Trans-Canada Highway starting on Thursday, October 2.
• Bridge Rehabilitation on Columbus Drive at Waterford Bridge Road Overpass - Expect lane reductions on Columbus Dr. & Waterford Bridge Rd, sidewalk closures with detours, and limited parking at Bowring Park duck pond lot. A lane reduction is currently in place westbound on Columbus Drive. Lane reductions on Waterford Bridge Road and limited parking at the Bowring Park duck pond will begin around the end of September 2025. Work continues into summer 2026. Please drive with caution and follow signs/flagpersons. Alternate pedestrian routes will be provided.
• Airport Heights Drive - As part of the ongoing Major’s Path and Portugal Cove Road Improvements project, expect lane reductions, detours, and delays until fall 2025.

Street Rehab

Check out a list of streets contractors may be working as part of the City's annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation.
