Active/Upcoming Advisories

• Gleneyre Street/Paul Reynolds Community Centre Parking Lot - On Monday, October 20, construction will begin on the east side of the Airport Heights to Paul Reynolds Community Centre Shared-Use Path.

• Brookfield Road Westbound Lane - From 7 a.m. Wednesday, October 15 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the westbound lane of Brookfield Road (near Civic 217 and Pearltown Road) will be reduced to a single lane for work on the Brookfield Road Water Transmission Main Relocation project. Temporary traffic signals, signage, and flag persons will be in place. Delays are expected, and alternate pedestrian routes will be provided.

• Airport Heights to Penney Crescent Trail - The City of St. John’s has begun construction of a new 2.6 km shared-use path connecting Airport Heights to the Paul Reynolds Community Centre. The project is scheduled to conclude in fall 2026. To facilitate construction work, the trail connecting Airport Heights to Penney Crescent will be closed from Portugal Cove Road to the Trans-Canada Highway starting on Thursday, October 2.
• Quidi Vidi Road (from Forest Road to Plymouth Road) - Motorists are advised that Quidi Vidi Road (from Forest Road to Plymouth Road) will be closed to facilitate a water / sewer connection. Local access will be provided.
• Route 3 (Robert E. Howlett Memorial Drive) and Commonwealth Avenue - The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has announced that starting Monday, September 22, the road connecting Commonwealth Avenue and Route 3 (Robert E. Howlett Memorial Drive), including the underpass section, will be closed for approximately six weeks. The closure is necessary to facilitate the construction of a new roundabout, which is part of the completion of the final phase of the Team Gushue Highway.
• Airport Heights Drive - Starting September 18, two-way traffic will resume with occasional lane reductions. The right-turn from Portugal Cove Rd. reopens; the left-turn from Rhodora St. stays closed. Access also via western entrance or Viscount St. Work continues until fall 2025—expect slowdowns and detours. Pedestrian access remains open.
• Bridge Rehabilitation on Columbus Drive at Waterford Bridge Road Overpass - Expect lane reductions on Columbus Dr. & Waterford Bridge Rd, sidewalk closures with detours, and limited parking at Bowring Park duck pond lot. A lane reduction is currently in place westbound on Columbus Drive. Lane reductions on Waterford Bridge Road and limited parking at the Bowring Park duck pond will begin around the end of September 2025. Work continues into summer 2026. Please drive with caution and follow signs/flagpersons. Alternate pedestrian routes will be provided.
• Airport Heights Drive - As part of the ongoing Major’s Path and Portugal Cove Road Improvements project, expect lane reductions, detours, and delays until fall 2025.
