Portugal Cove Road to Logy Bay Road Section of Crosstown Shared-Use Path - The City of St. John’s is making progress on the development of the Crosstown Shared-Use Path (SUP). On Monday, May 4, work is scheduled to resume near Kenny’s Pond, with all work scheduled to conclude by August 2026.
Battle of the Atlantic Parade & Ceremony - Downtown road closures will be in effect Sunday, May 3 to support the Battle of the Atlantic Parade & Ceremony, with temporary closures on Queen’s Road, Church Hill/Duckworth Street, Water Street, Ayre’s Cove, and Harbour Drive between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; pedestrian access will be maintained.
Kenna's Hill - To facilitate sanitary and storm line installations, there will be a lane reduction southbound on Kenna’s Hill from Wednesday, April 29 to Wednesday, May 20.
Bridge Rehabilitation on Columbus Drive at Waterford Bridge Road Overpass - Bridge rehabilitation on the Columbus Drive overpass near Waterford Bridge Road resumes Wednesday, April 29, 2026, and will continue through August 2026. Work this season includes asphalt removal, structural repairs, and repaving. Drivers should expect lane reductions and delays, though at least one lane in each direction will remain open. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and the public is advised to follow posted signage during construction.
Trail and Park Closure - Tree Clearing Operations - Tree clearing operations required for construction of the Airport Heights to Paul Reynolds Community Centre Shared-Use Path is scheduled to start on Tuesday, April 7, and will be ongoing for approximately two weeks.
Water Street Infrastructure Project - Work will begin in April and be completed by late spring 2026. During this time, residents and businesses in the immediate area may experience temporary sewer service disruptions, minor traffic delays, and reduced on-street parking. The City and contractor will share more details as timing is confirmed for affected properties.
Construction of New Roundabout at Portugal Cove Road, Major’s Path and Airport Heights Drive - The City of St. John’s is tentatively scheduled to begin construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Portugal Cove Road, Major’s Path and Airport Heights Drive on Monday, April 13, with work expected to continue until the end of 2026.
Temporary Road Closures to Facilitate Team Gushue Highway Construction - The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Transportation and Infrastructure wishes to advise the motoring public of upcoming road closures between March 25 and July 31 which are necessary to facilitate the ongoing completion of the final phase of Team Gushue Highway.
