Pools & Splash Pads
The City of St. John's operates two indoor pools, two outdoor pools and three splash pads. The outdoor pools are open during July and August. When possible, splash pads may open earlier and stay open until Labour Day.
All swim schedules can be found in our recreation calendar and you can learn more about programs and recreational swimming fees on our Swimming webpage.
Indoor Pools
Our indoor pools are located in the east and west end of the City at the H.G.R Mews Community Centre and Paul Reynolds Community Centre:

Outdoor Pools
Our outdoor pools are open during the summer and conveniently located in two of our largest municipal parks - Bowring Park and Bannerman Park. These pools have scheduled swim times throughout the day and early evening.
- Bannerman Park outdoor swimming pool, Bannerman Road, is an L-shaped 25-metre outdoor swimming pool.
- Bowring Park Swimming Pool, Waterford Bridge Road, is a 50-metre outdoor swimming pool with a water slide, wading pool for tots and 1-metre and 3-metre diving boards.
We strive to create accessible and inclusive programs and services where all individuals may participate. Our outdoor pools are equipped with the following:
- Assistive hearing devices available at the customer service desk
- Pool lifts
- Water wheelchairs
- Accessible change spaces with adult size change tables
- Accessible washrooms
- Automatic doors (Bowring only)
Splash Pads
Our splash pads are open 9 a.m. to dusk during the summer at Bowring Park, Bannerman Park and Kenmount Terrace Community Centre. The City will announce opening dates for splash pads in June.
We practice water conservation at our splash pads by using retreated, recirculated water. To ensure wise water use and that we aren’t unnecessarily treating water that no one has been playing in, the water features at our splash pads are set on a four-minute timer. This means they run for four minutes and then the water shuts off until you push the button to reactivate it.
Pool Rules & Safety
Patrons may bring their own lifejackets, kickboards, flippers, hand-paddles and pull-buoys. Personal floats and inflatables are not permitted.
All pools have lifeguards on duty. For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, please follow the posted pool rules all times.
Pool Rentals
Swims may be available for day camps during the summer at both our indoor and outdoor pools.
Pool space is also available for private rentals at some of our swimming pools. Private rentals are a great way to enjoy a family gathering or a corporate fun day.
For more information on rentals, visit our Facility Rentals webpage.
