Inclusion Programs

All of our recreation programs welcome individuals of all abilities to participate.

Inclusive recreation programs offer participants an opportunity to build the necessary skills for active living in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

Adapted Swim Lessons

Adapted swim lessons are available for swimmers with disabilities. Swim progressions are broken down into small, manageable steps to create a positive learning environment, making success more achievable.

Pursuing Active Lifestyles (PALs)

Pursuing Active Lifestyles is designed for participants aged 18+ who have mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Take part in recreation and leisure activities in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with caring leaders. To ensure a safe and inclusive environment meeting all participants' needs, please complete the Recreation Support Services Application.

Therapeutic Recreation

Therapeutic recreation referrals use a person's strength, needs and interests to set goals for recreation. A therapeutic recreation referral must be submitted to the City’s Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
(CTRS). The CTRS will connect participants to safe and supportive recreation and leisure opportunities offered by the City for those who may experience physical, mental, social or emotional barriers. Participants may be referred by a professional or self-referral. Please complete the Therapeutic Recreation referral form.

TIME™ Together in Movement and Exercise

TIME™ (Together in Movement and Exercise) is a community-based exercise program for adults with balance and mobility limitations. You must be able to walk 10 meters with or without aide. We require a referral from one of the following; a certified therapeutic recreation specialist, physician, physiotherapist, registered nurse, or a nurse practitioner. Please complete the TIME program referral form
