Register for a Program
Recreation registration happens seasonally and begins for St. John's residents on a specified date. Non-resident registration usually starts several days later.
Summer Registration Dates
For Residents
Children, youth, fitness and outdoor programs: April 30
Adult and Seniors Programs: May 14
Swimming Lessons & Aquatic Leadership: June 16
For Non-Residents:
Children, youth, fitness and outdoor programs: May 5
Adult and Seniors Programs: May 19
Swimming Lessons & Aquatic Leadership: June 18
Registration is completed through RECconnect. Participants will receive a confirmation email from RECconnect once registered. The City does not request payment through email, text or third party applications.
How to Register

We will make every reasonable effort to contact patrons when we must cancel or change a program. We announce cancellations. Sign up for electronic updates. Watch our helpful video on the registration process.
Open or Update Your RECconnect Account
Activate and/or update your RECconnect account at least 72 hours before registration. You can do this online, by calling us or by dropping into the H.G.R. Mews or Paul Reynolds Community Centres.
To create a RECconnect account, choose one of the following options. Please note that all City of St. John's residents must submit a proof of residency:
- On the RECconnect website choose ‘Create an Account' in the top right corner and follow the instructions
- call 709-576-8499 or 709-576-8631
- drop in to the H.G.R. Mews Community Centre or the Paul Reynolds Community Centre
My Wish List
If you usually register for several programs at once or register for popular programs such as swimming or summer camps, you will want to use the wish list feature. There is no limit on the number of courses you can add to your wish list.
- Before registration day, log into RECconnect and browse the available programs.
- Once you see a course you intend to register for, click the Wish List button to the right of the course title. Now this program is in your wish list.
- When registration opens, log in and go to your wish list. Click the 'My Cart' button near the top right and click the ‘Add from Wish List'. Now your shopping cart holds all the courses you selected.
- Select the family member you wish to register in each course and add to your cart.
- Go to the 'Checkout' to complete your registration. RECconnect will confirm the courses you've chosen if there is space available. The system lets you know if you are on the wait list for any of the selected courses.
- Payment must be made using a credit card.
