Shared-Use Paths
Shared-use paths are used by people walking, cycling and wheeling. Paved shared-use paths are designed to be accessible for people of all ages and abilities. They are wheelchair-friendly, stroller-friendly, and provide a safer and smoother surface for all users, regardless of their mobility or physical limitations.
Tips for Using Shared-Use Paths
- You may travel in both directions
- Keep to the right, pass on the left
- Slow down near others
- Warn before passing
- Use lights at night
- Follow all posted signage
- Be respectful of others' space
- Keep dogs on a short leash

- T’railway along the Waterford River from Railway Coastal Museum on Water Street, through Bowring Park to Mount Pearl - Gravel
- Along Portugal Cove Road from Airport Heights Drive to Windsor Lake - Gravel
- Crosstown along Columbus and Prince Philip Drive, from Canada Drive to Westerland Road – Paved
- Along Columbus Drive, from Captain Whelan Drive to Wishingwell Road - Paved
- Along Captain Whelan Drive from Columbus Drive to Blackmarsh Road - Paved
- Throughout the Galway development - Paved
- Kelly's Brook Trail, from Carpasian Road to the Crosstown shared-use path on Columbus Drive - paved (Will be extended from Carpasian Road to Bannerman Road in 2026)
- Along Elizabeth Avenue, adjacent to Memorial University, extending from Bonaventure Avenue to Paton Street - Paved
- Major's Path (North Side) from Hebron Way to Portugal Cove Road (connection to Airport Heights Drive coming soon via a future roundabout with active transportation crossings) – Paved
- Along Canada Drive from Columbus Drive to Cowan Heights Elementary School – paved (construction to be completed in 2026)
- From Portugal Cove Road to Logy Bay Road via neighbourood greenways – paved (construction to be completed in 2026)
- Virginia River Trail from Airport Heights Drive to Paul Reynolds Centre – paved with some gravel sections (construction to be completed in 2026)
