Call for Performers

Each year, the City of St. John’s issues a Call for Performers to showcase local talent at a variety of arts and cultural events. This program gives artists the opportunity to connect with audiences, share their work, and be part of the city’s vibrant cultural scene.

Applications are closed for the 2026 season.

Open to solo artists and groups in all performing arts disciplines. Applications must be submitted during the annual open call, running from February through the final Friday in March.

Opportunities

Music @ Concert Series

Music @ is a series of free concerts that take place from July to September in a variety of locations across the City. Main acts are preceded by a youth performer opening act, coordinated separately through a partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society. Main act performances are approximately 45 minutes long.

Downtown Pedestrian Mall

The City engages a variety of performers to enhance and animate the Downtown Pedestrian Mall throughout the summer through busker-style performances.

Dockside Welcomes

The City offers programming to welcome cruise ship passengers with a lively introduction to St. John’s and Newfoundland and Labrador. Through music, song, and dance, these performances are designed to be informative, entertaining, and engaging, giving visitors a memorable first taste of our city and province.

Other City-Hosted Events

Performance requirements vary based on the event or festival. City of St. John’s hosted events and festivals take place at various times throughout the year and may include Canada Day celebrations, New Year’s Eve celebrations, ChillFest and others as required.
