Traffic Enforcement

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is responsible for enforcing speed limits and other Provincial traffic laws under the Highway Traffic Act in the City of St. John’s. Contact the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary to report speeding.

Speed Cameras

The Provincial Government operates a speed camera program in select areas of the province, including St. John's. Speed cameras are operating at the intersection of Waterford Bridge Road and Nottingham Drive near St. Mary's Elementary School and on Larkhall Street near Larkhall Academy and Leary’s Brook Junior High.

Traffic Speed Enforcement Team

The City works closely with the RNC on road safety matters. The Traffic Speed Enforcement Team, made up of City and RNC staff, meets regularly to review public concerns and requests related to speeding and traffic enforcement. The team also reviews safety concerns identified by staff or the RNC, particularly on arterial roads and in designated school zones.
