Paid On-Street Parking

Before parking on a City street, please check posted signage to confirm whether the area is paid parking and to review any time limits or restrictions.

We enforce paid parking Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking is free:

after 6 p.m. on weekdays
all day Saturday and Sunday
on the following days:

Labour Day
Thanksgiving Day
Remembrance Day (November 11)
Christmas Day (December 25)
Boxing Day (December 26)
New Year's Day (January 1)
Good Friday
Victoria Day
Memorial Day or Canada Day (July 1)

Parking in paid areas is not permitted if the street is scheduled for snow removal, street cleaning, or closed for special events.

Rates and Time Limits

Parking rates are $1.75 per hour in the downtown core and surrounding areas and $1 per hour in Churchill Square.

Unused parking sessions cannot be refunded, it is best to pay for the time required and either revisit the pay station to add additional time, or use the extend feature on PayByPhone.

Check for signs that indicates the maximum time limit for the area. After the maximum time expires, you must move your vehicle.

How to Pay

We offer three ways to pay for parking - click on the tabs below to learn more. You do not need a mobile device to pay for parking.

The PayByPhone app accepts credit card or pre-paid cards for payment.

Follow the below steps to pay using the app:

Step 1: Download the PayByPhone app
Find the app on the Google Play or Apple App Store on your smartphone. Search “PayByPhone” and look for the app that uses the icon with green squares. Once downloaded, open the app to start the registration process.

Step 2: Create an account
Find the person/gear icon. Click to begin to set up your account. You can enter multiple vehicles, payment info and more.

Step 3: Enter the parking zone/location number
The app will ask the zone number of where you are parked. Look for on-street signage that indicates zone number.

Step 4: Enter your vehicle information
You will add the license plate number and province as well as vehicle type and description.

Step 5: Enter your parking duration
Add the amount of time you wish to park.

Step 6: Extend your parking anytime
Add more time from wherever you are.

Please be advised that if you decide to opt in to SMS notifications via the PayByPhone application there will be a fee. SMS notifications are not required to use the application, and it will still provide push notification and email receipts.

Follow these steps to pay using your phone:

Step 1: Call

Call the toll-free number to pay: 1-866-234-7275.

Step 2: Respond to the prompts

Existing users will be prompted to enter the 4 or 5 digit location number, and parking time required. New users will be guided through a registration process before entering the location number. Look for the signs on the street to confirm your location number.

Step 3: Wait for your parking to be confirmed

Once you have heard confirmation that your parking has started you may leave your vehicle.

Step 4: Extend your parking anytime

Extend your parking at any time. Simply call the number you dialed in Step 1. Your account will be recognized and you will be given the option to extend your parking session or to start a new one.

You can visit a pay station to make your payment using a credit card, debit card (tap only), or mobile pay.

Step 1
After you park, identify the zone you are in (on the nearby signage), go to the nearest pay station and press any button on the station to begin.

Step 2
Select a payment method using the yellow buttons on the machine. Either tap (debit, credit or mobile pay) or insert your credit card.

Step 3
Confirm your parking zone number. Stations will display the zone you are currently in.

Step 4
Enter you license plate number. This is on the same screen as the zone confirmation in step two.

Step 5
Choose the amount of time you wish to pay for parking and confirm using the green button.

Step 6
Make the payment either by tapping or inserting and removing your credit card.

Step 7
The station will ask you if you would like a receipt when the transaction is processed to keep for your own records; you do not need to return to your vehicle with the receipt.

Paid Parking Locations and Zone Numbers

The City offers paid parking in the downtown area and Churchill Square, with spaces available both on-street and in parking lots at City facilities.

Signage in the parking area will indicate parking restrictions. It is important to locate and adhere to parking signage. The map does not reflect seasonal changes to accessible parking or special event parking.
