The City of St. John’s will transition to a new website platform on June 8 as its current content management system has reached its end of life. This transition also provides an opportunity to improve the website experience for residents, businesses, and visitors through enhanced navigation, improved accessibility features, and a more user-focused design.

A Discretionary Use application has been submitted by PR Realty Inc. at 300 Torbay Road.

The Office of the City Clerk is seeking expressions of interest from individuals representing a Federal Crown Corporation involved in housing solutions.

A recap of key decisions from the June 2, 2026, Council meeting. The recap includes updates on planning and development applications, permits, land and property matters, proclamations and more. 

Contractors may be working on the following streets from June 8 to 13 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas.

In recognition of World Refugee Day on June 20, 2026, the City of St. John’s is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of newcomers through a celebratory event and art exhibit, “Many Journeys, One Home", hosted by the Association for New Canadians (ANC). 

Construction on the final phase of the Kelly’s Brook Shared-Use Path, between Carpasian Road and Bannerman Road, is scheduled to begin the week of June 8 and continue through October 2026.

On June 3, 2026, First Light held its inaugural gathering of the Metro Reconciliation Partnership. The new initiative brought together partners, changemakers, and allies from the City of St. John’s, the City of Mount Pearl, the Town of Paradise, and the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s to coordinate reconciliation efforts at the municipal level throughout the metro region.

The City of St. John’s and the St. John’s Regional Fire Department are reminding residents that open air fires within city limits require a permit unless they meet the requirements for an approved outdoor wood burning appliance.
