Memorial University will be conducting scheduled maintenance on its tunnel system. To facilitate this work, traffic pattern changes will be in effect on Prince Philip Drive beginning Monday, August 10. It is expected this work will be completed by the end of August.

St. John’s City Council has adopted amendments to the Sign By-Law, which were passed on July 14, 2026.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from August 10 to 15 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs.  Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas.

St. John’s City Council approved amendments to the Residential Property Standards, Commercial Maintenance, and Heritage By-Law on July 14, 2026. The changes update regulations related to heat pumps, air conditioners, and exhaust devices.

A Discretionary Use application has been submitted by 100745 Newfoundland & Labrador Corp. for 351-361 Kenmount Road.

The City of St. John’s will temporarily install the planned landmark sign at the Mary Browns Centre in 2026 as part of a public engagement process to help determine its permanent location.

The City received an application proposing construction of a 179.86m² Accessory Building. The maximum Accessory Building Area requirement is the lesser of 10% of the lot area or 75% of the Residential Building footprint. The applicant is requesting a Variance on the maximum Accessory Building Area requirement to be considered under Section 7.4 of the St. John’s Development Regulations which allows up to a 10% Variance from any applicable requirement to be considered.

A Discretionary Use application has been submitted by Shagrock Investments Limited (operating as Jumping Bean) at 37 Elizabeth Avenue.

Starting Wednesday August 5, there will be temporary lane closures on Portugal Cove Road near the intersection of Macdonald Drive and Prince Philip Drive to facilitate work on the Crosstown Shared-Use Path project. Work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks.
