Contractors may be working on the numerous streets from August 30 to September 5 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation.

Take notice that St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 45, 2026, adopted on March 10, 2026, has been registered by the Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs.

To facilitate construction of a shared-use path and related road rehabilitation, Canada Drive will be closed between Renews Street and Cowan Avenue from Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4.

To facilitate storm sewer and shared-use path upgrades on Whiteway Street, Guy Street will be reduced to one alternating lane near the intersection from 7 a.m. Friday, August 28 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, August 29. 

A Public Meeting will take place regarding a rezoning application for land at 245 Forest Road.

A Discretionary Use application has been submitted at 14 McKay Street.

To facilitate rehabilitation of the Freshwater Road/Empire Avenue intersection, there will be traffic impacts on Freshwater Road and Empire Avenue from Thursday, August 27 to Sunday, August 30. 

Effective immediately, the Access Centre at City Hall, 10 New Gower Street, is temporarily closed to the public due to excessive heat and humidity in the building. The building’s air conditioning system is currently not operating.
