The following is a recap of the City of St. John's Regular Council Meeting on February 24, 2026, which provides an overview of Council decisions.
Federal, provincial, and municipal governments are making a joint investment of over $139 million towards the first phase of the Riverhead Wastewater Treatment Facility expansion.
Upgrades to the Riverhead facility will increase primary water treatment capacity and will include design and site preparation for a future secondary treatment facility.
During the 2026 Montana's Brier, residents and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and stay informed about traffic and transportation impacts in the downtown area.
The trail lighting around the duck pond at Bowring Park has now been restored and is back in service following required maintenance.
Waste collection originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 24 will now take place on Wednesday, February 25, along with regularly scheduled Wednesday collection. Please note that recycling collection is cancelled for this week.

We’re making steady progress clearing streets citywide, but significant widening and snow removal is still needed in many neighbourhoods. Work is being continuously monitored and prioritized based on safety and need — there’s no need to call to request widening.
