  • 2026 Opening Dates for Splash Pads and Outdoor Pools

    The splash pads at the Kenmount Terrace Community Centre and Bannerman Park will open for the season today, Friday June 26. The splash pad at Bowring Park will also be operational with the opening of the outdoor pools at Bowring and Bannerman Park on Thursday, July 2.

  • Call for Members Deadline Extended to July 5 - Affordable Housing Working Group

    The Office of the City Clerk is seeking expressions of interest from individuals representing a Federal Crown Corporation involved in housing solutions.

    The Affordable Housing Working Group is responsible for providing advice to Council regarding housing system related policies, directives and strategies as well as implementation of the 10-year Affordable Housing Strategy, 2019 to 2028. In implementing the Strategy, the Working Group is to consider relevant City policies and activities which impact the Strategy and ensure communication with the appropriate parties. The working group will ensure that there is a comprehensive understanding of housing, affordable housing and homelessness issues and initiatives.

  • Seniors Party in the Park Scheduled for July 8

    The City of St. John’s is hosting its annual Party in the Park on Wednesday, July 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the lawn by the Bowring Park Bungalow.

  • Cruise Ships arrive June 25 and June 26

    The cruise ship Volendam with 1839 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 25 and depart on Friday, June 26, at 4 p.m. The Celebrity Silhouette cruise ship with 2886 passengers is scheduled to arrive at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 26, and depart at 6 p.m.

  • Notice: Water Advisory Email Delivery Issue

    We have identified a technical issue affecting the delivery of water advisory notification emails following recent system updates. As a result, water advisory notifications may not have been delivered to subscribers today. We are actively working to resolve the issue and restore normal service as quickly as possible. 

  • City Announces Line-up for 2026 Music @ Concert Series

    Today, the City announced the line-up for the 2026 Music @ Concert Series.

    Music @ is an annual concert series running from July to September. All shows are free to attend and feature a wide variety of musical genres, including folk, rock, pop, traditional, and country. Each concert will open with a performance by a young emerging artist, thanks to our partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society.

    The 2026 series kicks off on July 3 and runs until September 18.

  • National Indigenous Peoples Day (Observed) Holiday Closures - Monday, June 22, 2026

    Please be advised that City offices and Community Centres will be closed for National Indigenous Peoples Day (Observed) on Monday, June 22. 

  • 2026 Canada Day/Memorial Day Events Announced

    Annually the City of St. John's hosts Canada Day celebrations on July 1. All Canada Day events are accessible, and all activities are free of charge.

  • SJRFD Firefighter Recruit Ceremony (1)

    Fire Chief Sherry Colford of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD), along with representatives from the City of St. John’s, City of Mount Pearl, Town of Paradise and IAFF Local 1075 will officially welcome 14 new firefighter recruits today, Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Central Fire Station.
