    Motorists are advised that Springdale Street, between Water Street and George Street West, will be closed from Mar 20 to April 28 from 7:00 a.m.

    2025 Jeux du Canada Games Track, Field, Turf and Centre of Excellence Facility

    Today, Mayor Danny Breen was joined by representatives from Memorial University, the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, and the 2025 Canada Games Host Society to announce that the Design Build Contract for construction of a new track and field, artificial soccer turf, and Centre for Excellence for the 2025 Canada Summer Games, has been awarded to Lindsay Construction.

    The project includes a Class II IAAF 400-metre track, an outdoor throwing area for field events, a FIFA Quality.

    Water Street Construction Update April 28

    The final phase of the Water Street infrastructure improvement project that began on March 27 is progressing on schedule, with the underground infrastructure installation nearing completion at the Waldegrave Street intersection, and underground work scheduled to begin next week at the intersection of Prescott Street and Job’s Cove.

    As weather permits, crews will be working to reinstate the road surface at the Waldegrave Street intersection during the coming weeks.

    Yard Waste Collection Begins May 1

    Starting Mon. May 1 and running through to the end of November, yard waste will be collected at the curb on the same day as your recycling.

    A Public Hearing will take place regarding an application to rezone land at 20 Janeway Place to allow apartment buildings. The proposed development will consist of four, two-storey apartment buildings; each apartment building will contain eight units for a total count of 32 units.

    Repairs Planned for Historical Cantilever Bridge in Bowring Park

    This summer, repairs are planned to rehabilitate the Cantilever Bridge in Bowring Park, with construction scheduled to begin in early May and be completed by the end of July.

    The construction project involves concrete rehabilitation, graffiti removal, replacing handrailing, waterproofing and paving the bridge deck.
