The Fire Chief of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD), along with representatives from the City of St. John’s, City of Mount Pearl, Town of Paradise and IAFF Local 1075 will officially welcome 17 new firefighter recruits on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Central Fire Station.

These new firefighters come from varying backgrounds, bringing diverse experience and education to the SJRFD. On June 9, the new recruits will begin 10 days of internal classroom and practical training which will take place at the Kenmount training tower, preparing them for the environment and culture of firefighting.

The New Recruits Ceremony will provide the Department and Region the opportunity to officially welcome these new recruits into the SJRFD family.

Recruit firefighters will be assigned to one of eight fire stations where they will have the opportunity to learn from senior firefighters and officers.
