The City Celebrates Earth Day on April 22Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22 since 1970.

Trail Explorers with Nature Interpretation PostponedPlease note that the Trail Explorers with Nature Interpretation event scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 at Bowring Park has been postponed due to weather. The event will now take place on Wednesday, April 23, 11 a.
Leisure Pool Opening: Paul Reynolds Community CentrePlease be advised that repairs to the leisure pool at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre are now complete. The pool will reopen on Sunday, April 20 following it’s regular schedule as follows:
- 6 Lane & Leisure from 7 to 8:50 a.
Application - 55 Groves RoadThe City has received an application to rezone land at 55 Groves Road from the Rural Residential Infill (RRI) Zone to the Residential 2 (R2) Zone to allow the development of semi-detached dwellings. A Municipal Plan amendment is also required.
Application - 425 Blackmarsh Road (Welland Street), April 2025The City has received an application to rezone a portion of land at 425 Blackmarsh Road (between 418 Blackmarsh Road and 70 Welland Street) from Apartment 2 (A2) Zone to the Residential 2 (R2) Zone to create one new lot for a Single Detached Dwelling. A Municipal Plan amendment is not required.
Recreation Program Cancellations Due to Federal ElectionDue to the federal election and advanced voting taking place at City facilities the following programs are cancelled:

• Body Conditioning: Paul Reynolds Community Centre from 7 to 7:50 p.m.
Permanent Speed Cushions Coming to Select StreetsThe City of St. John’s has announced additional traffic calming measures that will be implemented on City streets.
St. George’s Day Holiday City Schedule - April 21, 2025Due to the St. George’s Day holiday on Monday, April 21, City offices will be closed with the exception of the following:
- All recreation facilities will be open.
