The St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) anticipates posting a job competition in early September 2025.

The Volendam with 1839 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 8 a.m. (updated from 10 a.m.) on Saturday, August 2, and depart at 5 p.m.

The Temporary Access Road between Bay Bulls Road and Glenlonan Street will be closed on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to facilitate culvert repairs.

Work continues on Airport Heights Drive to support the multi-year Major’s Path and Portugal Cove Road Improvements project resulting in a number of traffic impacts.

Due to the he 2025 Canada Games Torch Relay there will be rolling road closures on Friday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a number of streets. The event will begin at the Orange Store at 694 Water Street and end with a community celebration in Bannerman Park.

To facilitate the George Street Festival, the eastbound lane of Duckworth Street (New Gower Street to Bates Hill), will be closed from 3 p.m. on July 31 to 3 a.m. on August 7.

Southside Trail (from 632 Southside Road to Blackhead Road) will be closed to the public from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Wednesday, July 30 to Friday, August 1, and again on Monday, August 4 for Newfoundland Power to complete planned maintenance on a transmission line that runs alongside the trail.

The Azamara Quest with 694 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, and depart at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 31.
