City of St. John’s Seeking New Street Name Ideas

The City of St. John’s is expanding its Reserved Street Names Inventory — and we’re asking for your ideas! This inventory is used when new streets are developed and require official names approved by the City.

Street names can reflect our city’s rich history, natural beauty, and shared culture. You might draw inspiration from:
  • Places or events
  • Flora or fauna
  • Natural or geographical features
  • Cultural themes or shared experiences
  • Existing neighbourhood naming themes
Please note that names of individuals (living or deceased) will not be accepted in line with the City’s Street Naming Policy and Procedures.

Visit engagestjohns.ca to submit your suggestions and learn more about the City’s street naming process. Residents can also email ideas to Engage@StJohns.ca or call 311 or 709- 754-CITY (2489) and ask to speak with a member of the project team.

Help us name the streets that shape our community! Submissions will be received until December 19, 2025.
