Construction Update in Memorial University Area
The City of St. John’s continues to make progress on key construction projects in the Memorial University area.
Update Traffic Advisory Road Closure University Avenue (Prince Philip Drive to Paton Street)Closure extended to 6:00 p.m.

Ward 3 By-Election Candidates AnnouncedOn Tuesday, November 5, residents living in Ward 3 of the City of St. John's will elect a new Councillor.
Bowring Park West Washrooms ClosedThe west washrooms (at the canteen building) at Bowring Park, will be closed for maintenance October 10 and 11 inclusive. The duck pond washrooms will remain open.
Overnight Work - Paton Street (near Elizabeth Avenue intersection)11:00 p.m.
Thanksgiving Day Holiday 2024Due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday on Monday, October 14, all City offices and facilities will be closed.
Please note:
- Garbage, recycling and yard waste will not occur on Monday, it will be collected on Tuesday October 15, along with regular Tuesday collection.
New Building Safer Communities Strategy ReleasedToday (October 8, 2024), Council approved the Oct 08, 2024
Application - Main Road and Shoal Bay RoadThe City is considering rezoning lands along Main Road and Shoal Bay Road, Goulds, from the Rural Residential Infill (RRI) Zone to the Residential 1 (R1) Zone. A Municipal Pan amendment is also required to re-designate the land from the Urban Expansion District to the Residential District.
