The City of St. John’s invites expressions of interest from persons wishing to become a member of the St. John’s Local Board of Appeal to fill two vacancies. The City believes in equal opportunity and is committed to reflecting the community’s diversity on our boards and committees.
The Appeal Board hears appeals of decisions of the City made under the City’s Development Regulations with respect to:
The Appeal Board is bound by the Development Regulations and URPA, 2000 and cannot substitute its discretion for that of Council.
The Appeal Board is comprised of 5 persons. The appointment is for a three-year term and members may be appointed for an additional three-year term. Renumeration is paid to members per hearing. Hearings may be held virtually or in-person.
Members of the Appeal Board should have experience in at least one of the following areas:
Previous experience on a board or tribunal would be an asset.
