Cancellation: Waste Collection - January 12, 2026

Due to forecasted high winds, curbside waste collection is cancelled for Monday, January 12, 2026. Collection will take place on Tuesday, January 13, along with regularly scheduled waste collection for that day.

Winter Activity Centre at Pippy Park Open for the Season

The Winter Activity Centre in the North Bank Lodge at Pippy Park is scheduled to open today (Saturday, January 10). For up-to-date schedules and hours of operation call the Winter Activity Centre Snowline at 709-737-3651. 

Pippy Park is transformed into an area suitable for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and skate skiing. Trails are free to use and may be lit for evening use. Trail maps can be viewed on our Winter Activity Centre webpage and at North Bank Lodge.

Early Morning Lane and Leisure Swims Cancelled January 5 Due to Weather

The City of St. John’s advises that lane and leisure swims scheduled for 7 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre and H.G.R. Mews Community Centre are cancelled due to expected weather conditions.

An update will be provided at 7 a.m. on January 5 regarding any additional closures or service interruptions affecting community centres and City Hall.
