St. George’s Day Holiday City Schedule 2026

Due to the St. George’s Day holiday on Monday, April 20, City offices will be closed, except for the following:

• All recreation facilities will be open.
• Curbside waste collection will go ahead as scheduled.
• As Monday is not a Shops Closing holiday, all City paid parking by-laws are still in effect.
• The Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility will be open for commercial users only from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Residential Drop Off will be closed.
• Public washrooms will be open at Bannerman Park, Bowring...

Municipal Open House 2026

The City of St. John's will host a Municipal Open House on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in celebration of Municipal Awareness Week. This event provides an opportunity to visit some of the City's municipal buildings and get the inside scoop on how your city operates. This is a free family friendly event open to all ages.

Participating sites include:

Overnight Parking Bans Ending - April 13, 2026

Based on the latest forecast models, the City is lifting all on-street overnight parking bans effective 7:30 a.m. on April 13, 2026.

Residents are reminded that the Weather-Related Parking Ban may be implemented on roads outside the downtown area during should we experience an adverse weather event.

Oversized Waste Appointments Open April 21

Starting 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, residents of St. John's can book a free curbside collection appointment for oversized waste. 

To book an appointment use one of the following options:

• Visit CurbitStJohns.ca/Schedules and choose the oversized tab
• Use the ‘Curbit St. John’s’ app and choose the oversized tab
