Our annual Call for Performers helps the City program arts and cultural performances for special events like the Music @ Concert Series, Downtown Pedestrian Mall performances, Dockside Welcomes and other City of St. John’s-hosted events and festivals.

Sport Tourism Canada’s Economic Impact Assessment has found that the 2025 Jeux du Canada Games generated over $272 million in total economic activity across Canada, including $180.7 million in the City of St. John’s.
The Economic Impact Assessment measures the positive change in economic activity resulting from hosting an event. It includes spending by out-of-town visitors, event organizers’ operational expenditures, and capital construction investments related to the Games.

The City of St. John’s is launching a new educational resource toolkit and a series of information sessions to help seniors and older adults recognize, prevent, and report financial fraud and scams.

Take notice that St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 70, 2025, adopted on December 2, 2025, has been registered by the Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs.
In general terms, the purpose of St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 70, 2025 is to update Appendix C, Map 4 to reflect a change in the status of the wetland at 853 Main Road.

The City has received an application from Campbell Development Limited to rezone 45-53 Blackmarsh Road from the Industrial Commercial (IC) Zone to the Commercial Mixed (CM) Zone and develop a total of twenty (20) Dwelling Units within the existing commercial buildings at 45 and 47 Blackmarsh Road.
As part of this rezoning application, the City is also advertising the Discretionary Use of four (4) Dwelling Units on the first floor of the building at 47 Blackmarsh Road.

The City is considering a text amendment to the Envision St. John's Development Regulations to address various housekeeping items. The purpose of this amendment is to correct inconsistencies, typos, duplications, omissions, and to clarify provisions in the Regulations that are unclear or may lead to misinterpretation.
