The City of St. John’s is advising the public that the bathrooms located at Bannerman Park are closed until further notice. The closure is necessary due to increased incidences of vandalism and misuse which has resulted in damage to the plumbing and hardware.
Recognizing the importance of bathroom facilities for the nearby encampment, the City of St. John’s has reached out to the Provincial Government to request port-a-potties be placed on the Colonial Building grounds. The Bannerman Park...

Due to forecasted weather conditions, garbage and recycling collection will be postponed on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023.
Garbage collection for Area 2A and 2B, including recycling for 2A will now take place on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023.
Garbage collection for Area 3A and 3B, including recycling for 3A, will also take place as scheduled on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023.
Residents in Area 2 and Area 3 may experience delays due to the double collection day.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from November 27 to December 2 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Since the last progress update to Council in August 2023, 11 Strategic Plan Initiatives have been completed, bringing the total number of completed initiatives to 133, since the launch in 2019. In addition, there are another 19 initiatives on track to being completed in 2023.
