The City of St. John’s invites residents and businesses to share their thoughts on the initial recommendations for new neighbourhood plans for the University Area and Cowan Heights.
“In fall 2024, we heard from community members during the first round of engagement,” said Councillor Maggie Burton, lead for Planning. “We’ve listened to what matters most in each neighbourhood, and now we’re checking back in to ensure the draft recommendations reflect those priorities.”

Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22 since 1970.
The 2025 Earth Day Canada theme is Biodiversity. Nearly 75% of the Canadian population cannot define biodiversity or understand how to act to preserve it, however a large majority want to receive information to better understand the issue and get involved.
The City of St. John’s is hosting events to celebrate Earth Day but also has a number of programs, services and policies that support, protect and enhance biodiversity in the community.

Please note that the Trail Explorers with Nature Interpretation event scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 at Bowring Park has been postponed due to weather. The event will now take place on Wednesday, April 23, 11 a.m. to noon.

A Public Hearing will take place regarding an amendment to rezone lands along Main Road and Shoal Bay Road, Goulds, from the Rural Residential Infill (RRI) Zone to the Residential 1 (R1) Zone.
