On October 2, residents of the City of St. John's will elect a new City Council.
The nomination period for candidates has now closed and the deadline to withdraw has passed. Ward 1 Councillor Jill Bruce and Ward 3 Councillor Greg Noseworthy have won their respective seats by acclamation.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from September 8 to 13 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:

To facilitate the Uniformed Services Run and the arrival of two cruise ships, the following road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect on Sunday, September 7, 2025, impacting the Downtown Area, Quidi Vidi Lake, and the Waterford Valley.
Motorists are advised to find an alternate route, while residents may be temporarily delayed while race participants are passing.

The following appeal under the City of St. John’s Development Regulations will be heard by the Local Board of Appeal on Wednesday, September 17th, at 12:00 pm.
Decision of City re: Rejection of paving stones on City owned land at the front of 82 Barnes Road.
