Construction work to facilitate the replacement of the Quidi Vidi Slipway off Cadet Road is scheduled to begin on Friday, January 2, 2026.
In preparation for construction, the contractor will mobilize on the site starting on Tuesday, December 16. Parking spaces immediately adjacent to the slipway will be impacted.
All boats stored on the slipway must be removed by Friday, January 2, 2026.

Today, the City of St. John’s released the details of Budget 2026. To maintain programs and services and address growing operating and capital costs, the City of St. John’s 2026 budget is balanced at $365,997,790, reflecting a 4.8% increase over 2025.

Stanley’s Lane will be closed to through traffic on Wednesday, Dec 17, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to allow for tree pruning, beginning at the Bay Bulls Road entrance.
Local resident access and emergency vehicle access will be maintained. Signage will be placed at both ends of the road, and due to the narrow roadway, crews will be on site to direct traffic as needed to minimize disruption to motorists.
The City apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
