Construction on Portugal Cove Road to Logy Bay Road Section of Crosstown Shared-Use Path to Resume

The City of St. John’s is making progress on the development of the Crosstown Shared-Use Path (SUP). On Monday, May 4, work is scheduled to resume near Kenny’s Pond, with all work scheduled to conclude by August 2026.

As construction continues, residents may experience traffic delays, lane reductions, and sidewalk closures within the work zone, along with temporary closures of sections of the existing trails.

Traffic Advisory: Portugal Cove Road, Major’s Path and Airport Heights Drive

Work continues on the future roundabout at Portugal Cove Road, Major’s Path, and Airport Heights Drive.

On Thursday, April 30, westbound traffic west of the intersection will be reduced to one lane until 4 p.m. Delays are expected to be minimal.

REVISED: Traffic Advisory - Intersection of Water Street and Prescott Street

To facilitate work on the Water Street Infrastructure Project, there will be disruptions at the intersection of Water Street and Prescott Street on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 as follows:

• Traffic along Water Street will be reduced to one shared lane for both directions.
• Eastbound traffic on Water Street will not be able to turn left onto Prescott Street.
• Westbound traffic on Water Street will continue to be able to turn right onto Prescott Street (no change).
• All Southbound traffic on Prescott...

Traffic Advisory - Kenna's Hill

To facilitate sanitary and storm line installations, there will be a lane reduction southbound on Kenna’s Hill from Wednesday, April 29 to Wednesday, May 20.

Motorists should expect delays. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and flag persons will be on site to direct traffic.

City Releases What We Heard Report for Young Adult Engagement

The City of St. John’s has released a What We Heard report summarizing findings from public engagement which took place from November 2025 to March 2026. The engagement gathered feedback from residents aged 17 to 30 and will help inform the development of a new young adult engagement strategy that reflects the current needs and expectations of young adults.

The What We Heard document will be shared at the Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Traffic Advisory: Cornwall Avenue

Motorists are advised that there is a temporary lane reduction for Cornwall Avenue on Monday, April 27 to facilitate sewer main repairs. Work is anticipated to be completed this evening. Signage will be in place and flag persons will be on site. Slowdowns and delays will be experienced.
