Temporary Closure of T'Railway Near 275 Southside Road and Newdock

Pedestrians and bicyclists utilizing the T’Railway are advised there will be a temporary closure of the T’Railway near 275 Southside Road and Newdock on October 15, 2024. Signage and barricades will be in place. As the T’Railway pedestrian bridge near Newdock will be temporarily closed, pedestrians and bicyclists are advised to cross at Blackhead Road bridge instead.

Construction Update in Memorial University Area

The City of St. John’s continues to make progress on key construction projects in the Memorial University area. Updates on construction projects are noted below:
Elizabeth Avenue Shared-Use Path and Road Improvements- Elizabeth Avenue, from Freshwater Road to Paton Street, has reopened.
- Localized lane closures may be required periodically in the coming weeks to finalize construction work.
- Construction is scheduled to be completed by November 2024.
Update Traffic Advisory Road Closure University Avenue (Prince Philip Drive to Paton Street)

Motorists are advised that University Avenue between Prince Phillip Drive and Paton Street will remain closed to traffic until 6:00 Monday, October 21 due to ongoing construction works associated with the University Avenue Storm Sewer Upgrades project.

Traffic Diversion - Ordnance Street

7:00 a.m. Monday, October 14 to 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 15
Effective Monday, October 14, to facilitate construction, Ordnance Street will be closed to through traffic (with the exception of large commercial vehicles such as buses and tractor trailers). Traffic will be diverted down Wood Street.
Access for local residents and emergency services will be maintained. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained. Signage will be in place and flag persons will be on site.

On Tuesday, November 5, residents living in Ward 3 of the City of St. John's will elect a new Councillor. Congratulations to the following candidates who have been successfully nominated:

Bowring Park West Washrooms Closed

The west washrooms (at the canteen building) at Bowring Park, will be closed for maintenance October 10 and 11 inclusive. The duck pond washrooms will remain open. The City apologizes for any inconvenience.

Overnight work on Paton Street (near Elizabeth Avenue intersection) will take place from 11:00 p.m. October 10 to 7:00 a.m. October 11. This will include water shut offs and is required to install a fire hydrant. Those impacted by the water shut off have already been notified.
