Public Advisory: Drifting Smoke in St. John’s Region

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department is advising residents that wildfires are causing drifting smoke into St. John’s and surrounding areas. While the incident is outside our direct jurisdiction, the smoke may affect air quality in our area.

We recommend that residents turn off air exchangers and HVAC units to help reduce indoor smoke exposure.

Gardeners Gathering Event - May 27, 2025

The City of St. John’s in partnership with Food First NL will be hosting a Gardeners Gathering event on Tuesday, May 27, from 6-8 p.m. at Paul Reynolds Community Centre (Frances Lambe Room).

Application - 725 Southlands Boulevard (Galway)

Description

The City has received an application from Galway Residential GP Inc. to revise a map (Schedule B in Appendix D) of the Planned Mixed Development 1 (PMD 1) Zone by increasing the commercial area along Claddagh Road and reducing the frontage of proposed residential lots along Kinsale Walk. Schedule B forms part of the PMD 1 Zone standards and therefore any changes require an amendment to the Envision St. John’s Development Regulations. A Municipal Plan amendment is not needed.
