The City of St. John’s has released What We Heard reports summarizing public input from Phase 2 engagement for the Cowan Heights and University Area Neighbourhood Plans. Motorists are advised that Prince Philip Drive will be reduced to one lane (east bound and west bound) at various times and the left turning lane from Prince Philip Drive (west bound) to University Avenue will be closed to facilitate asphalt paving operations.

Road Closure - Blackhead Crescent: July 2, 2025

Blackhead Crescent between civic numbers 44 - 65 will be closed to traffic on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to facilitate culvert repairs. Use an alternate route and expect delays.

Canada Day Fireworks Cancelled Due to Current Fire Index Conditions

Please be advised that the City of St. John’s fireworks planned for 10 p.m. on July 1 are cancelled due to current Provincial fire index rating for our Region. The use of personal/backyard fireworks is also strictly prohibited.
The concert featuring Celtic Connection at the bandstand at Quidi Vidi Lake will still go ahead at 8 p.m., weather permitting. Residents can subscribe to receive updates by email related to cancellations at StJohns.ca/Subscribe or check the City’s Facebook page.
