The City of St. John’s is proud to support First Light St. John’s Friendship Centre in observing Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, 2025. As we approach this important day, residents are invited to participate in a range of impactful activities organized by First Light to honour Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never came home, and support the continued journey of reconciliation.

Seniors and older adults are invited to celebrate Seniors Day on October 9.
Join the celebration at this free event with information booths, light refreshments, prize draws and entertainment by Those Beautiful Uglysticks. The event will take place at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre from noon to 3:30 p.m. No registration is required and event is first come, first served. Parking is limited.

Stanley’s Lane, at the intersection of Bay Bulls Road, will be closed to traffic on Thursday, Sept 25, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to allow for culvert repairs. Access for local residents and emergency services will be maintained via Old Bay Bulls Road.

The City of St. John’s has been awarded $249,997 through the Public Health Agency of Canada’s 2025 Intersectoral Action Fund (ISAF) to advance its project, Healthy City for All: A Lens for Equity-Based Municipal Decision-Making to Improve Health Outcomes. PHAC recently announced the 2025 ISAF recipients on August 18, with St. John’s among 14 organizations nationwide to share more than $3 million in funding for collaborative projects addressing the social determinants of health.

The City of St. John’s is now accepting submissions to the Art Procurement Program. Individual visual artists and commercial galleries are invited to submit their artwork for an opportunity to be purchased and included in the City’s Civic Art Collection.
The Civic Art Collection is displayed in City Hall and other municipal buildings, enhancing public spaces and contributing to the city’s cultural landscape.
