St. Patrick’s Day Holiday City Schedule – March 17, 2025

Due to the St. Patrick’s Day holiday on Monday, March 17, City offices and facilities will be closed.

Please note:

• Garbage and recycling will be collected as scheduled on Monday, March 17.
• The Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is open for commercial users only from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• All City parking by-laws are still in effect including paid parking regulations as Monday is not a Shops Closing holiday.
• The Loop at Bannerman Park will be open, weather permitting. Call 709-733-LOOP (5667).

City Awards Over $1.8M in Community and Capital Grants

At the March 11, 2025 City Council Meeting, over $1.8 million was approved for Community and Capital Grants. For 2025, community grants total $1,312,500 and capital grants total $489,630 plus $43,127 in waived permit and development fees.

City Offering Community Event Space on Downtown Pedestrian Mall

The City of St. John's is offering free space on the Downtown Pedestrian Mall for organizations to engage with the community in creative ways.

Interested organizations are encouraged to apply by completing the application form and outlining their ideas for enhancing the Downtown Pedestrian Mall. Please review all requirements before submitting.

The City of St. John’s will be hosting a World Poetry Day Reading Event on Thursday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in the Foran Greene Room, Fourth Floor, City Hall.

The event will be hosted by the City’s Poet Laureate Mark Callanan and feature the following six poets:

A Discretionary Use application has been submitted for 112 Camrose Drive.

Description

The proposed application is for remediation of an abandoned quarry at 112 Camrose Drive. The remediation will involve filling, regrading and landscaping in the Watershed. The proposed remediation covers an area of approximately 18,976 sqm. No buildings are proposed.
