Take notice that St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 14, 2024, and St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 40, 2024, adopted on September 3, 2024, and approved on April 9, 2025, have been registered by the Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs.
In general terms, the purpose of St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 14, 2024, is to redesignate land at 188 New Pennywell Road from the Rural District to the Residential District, to allow a Cluster Development.

Update
Please be advised that the City of St. John’s fireworks planned for 10 p.m. on July 1 are cancelled due to current Provincial fire index rating for our Region. As such, the below road closures will no longer be in place, with the exception of Carnell Drive which will be closed from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on July 1 to accommodate other Canada Day events.

The City has received an application from 86755 Newfoundland & Labrador Inc. to rezone 8 Shaw Street and 4 McLea Place from the Residential Special (RA) Zone to the Residential 1 (R1) Zone. The property is in the Residential District of the Envision St. John’s Municipal Plan, so a Municipal Plan amendment is not needed.

As the Provincial fire ban has now been lifted, the St. John’s Regional Fire Department informs all residents that the fire ban covering the Region including the City of St. John’s, City of Mount Pearl, and Town of Paradise has been lifted with immediate effect. Open fires are now allowed. Please contact your local municipality to verify if a burning permit is required from our Department.
