Volendam Cruise Ship Cancelled - August 23, 2025

Volendam cruise ship originally scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s on Saturday, August 23, has been cancelled due to expected unfavorable weather conditions.

Traffic Advisory - Downtown Area (Canada Games Closing Ceremony)

Times: 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.

To facilitate the closing ceremony for the 2025 Canada Games, please note the following road closures and parking restrictions. 

Road Closures

The following roads will be closed from 12 to 11 p.m. on Sunday, August 24:

• New Gower Street (Waldegrave Street/Barter’s Hill to Duckworth Street)
• Queen's Road (City Hall Parking Garage to Long's Hill)
• Adelaide Street (Water Street to New Gower Street)
• Water Street eastbound (Waldegrave Street to Adelaide Street)

Bridge Rehabilitation on Columbus Drive at Waterford Bridge Road Overpass Begins August 26

Bridge rehabilitation work on the Columbus Drive Overpass near Waterford Bridge Road will begin Tuesday, August 26, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed in summer 2026.

Work in 2025 focuses on sidewalks, the median, and work underneath the overpass. In spring 2026, work will resume to repair and repave the overpass deck.

Traffic on Columbus Drive and Waterford Bridge Road will be disrupted, and sections of the Bowring Park Duck Pond parking lot will be unavailable. Expect lane reductions,...
