Spaces Available in Preschool Program

Spaces are available in our Preschool Program for Fall 2025. 

Active Preschool is a part time preschool program that focuses on socialization, early educational concepts, physical literacy with a focus on fundamentals, basic movement and skills taught through fun activities. Staff will build on children's interests and abilities and offer age- appropriate activities and learning centre.

Closing Events for the Current H.G.R. Mews Community Centre

After over 50 years of providing recreation and community programming, the current H.G.R. Mews Community Centre will officially close to the public on Thursday, August 28. Zuiderdam Cruise Ship Cancelled - August 19, 2025

Zuiderdam cruise ship originally scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, and depart at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, has been cancelled due to weather.

Cruise Ship Zuiderdam arrives August 19

The Zuiderdam with 2388 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, and depart at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20.

Please note that ship arrivals and departures are subject to various conditions, including weather and ships’ schedules. For the most up-to-date information on cruise ships coming to the City of St. John’s call the Cruise Information Line.

Evacuation Alert Lifted for Paddy’s Pond Industrial, Galway and Southlands Areas

The Evacuation Preparedness Alert for the Paddy’s Pond Industrial, Galway and Southlands areas has been lifted effective immediately. The alert in neighbouring communities in Paradise and CBS has also been lifted.

Please note that the southern portion of Fowler's Road will remain closed to traffic as work continues in that area. Local traffic will be permitted.
