The City of St. John’s has been awarded $249,997 through the Public Health Agency of Canada’s 2025 Intersectoral Action Fund (ISAF) to advance its project, Healthy City for All: A Lens for Equity-Based Municipal Decision-Making to Improve Health Outcomes. PHAC recently announced the 2025 ISAF recipients on August 18, with St. John’s among 14 organizations nationwide to share more than $3 million in funding for collaborative projects addressing the social determinants of health.

The City of St. John’s is now accepting submissions to the Art Procurement Program. Individual visual artists and commercial galleries are invited to submit their artwork for an opportunity to be purchased and included in the City’s Civic Art Collection.
The Civic Art Collection is displayed in City Hall and other municipal buildings, enhancing public spaces and contributing to the city’s cultural landscape.

The City of St. John’s advises that some vote-by-mail kits for residents in Goulds have been returned to City Hall by Canada Post. About 300 kits addressed to civic addresses were affected, as some residents receive their mail through PO Boxes. Canada Post does not deliver civic-addressed mail when a PO Box is on file.

The City of St. John’s advises that the swimming pool located at the H.G.R. Mews Community Centre will have a delayed opening Tuesday, September 23 to allow for a pool water treatment. As we continue settling into our new facility, occasional adjustments like this are a normal part of ensuring the highest standard of safety, comfort, and service for our users.

The City of St. John’s municipal election takes place on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Residents are reminded that the last day to return vote-by-mail kits by mail is Wednesday, September 24. After this date, completed kits must be returned to one of the City’s secure drop boxes.

Starting on Tuesday, September 23, Ordnance Street will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to facilitate paving.
Passenger vehicles are asked to detour via Wood Street. Commercial vehicles must detour via Cochrane Street. The detour is scheduled to conclude in approximately two weeks. Access for locals and pedestrians will be maintained. Please obey signage and flagpersons in the area.
