The City of St. John’s municipal election takes place on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Residents are reminded that the last day to return vote-by-mail kits by mail is Wednesday, September 24. After this date, completed kits must be returned to one of the City’s secure drop boxes.
If you have not yet received a kit, please check the Voter Registration Portal before 4:30 p.m. on September 24 to confirm your registration. The portal will be closed for new registrations after this time. New registrants...

Starting on Tuesday, September 23, Ordnance Street will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to facilitate paving.
Passenger vehicles are asked to detour via Wood Street. Commercial vehicles must detour via Cochrane Street. The detour is scheduled to conclude in approximately two weeks. Access for locals and pedestrians will be maintained. Please obey signage and flagpersons in the area.

Bidgood Park Dog Park will be closed for maintenance from Monday, Sept 22, to Wednesday, Sept 24, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily.

The Europa, with 408 passengers, is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 8 a.m. on Monday, September 22, and depart at 5 p.m. The Allura, with 1371 passengers, is scheduled to arrive at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24 and depart at 7 p.m.

Motorists are advised that due to watermain repairs Empire Ave (Jensen Camp Rd to Welland St) is closed today, Saturday, September 20, 2025, until 10:00 p.m.
Use an alternate route and expect delays. Emergency vehicles and local traffic, including those visiting family, friends, businesses in the area will have access, while all through traffic will be detoured.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from September 22 to 27 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation.
