Victoria Day Holiday - May 19, 2025

Please be advised that City offices will be closed for the Victoria Day holiday on Monday, May 19. Garbage, recycling and yard waste collection scheduled for Monday will be collected on Tuesday, May 20.
Please note:
- Public washrooms will remain open at Bannerman Park, Bowring Park, Kenny’s Pond and Quidi Vidi Lake.
- Street cleaning operations will take place as scheduled on Monday, May 19. Vehicles that are not removed during street cleaning will be ticketed.

Temporary Closure of Churchill Park Playground

Churchill Park playground will be temporarily closed to the public from Wednesday, May 14 until Friday, May 23 for equipment installation. A reopening date will be provided once equipment installation is complete.

Distribution of 2026 Property Assessments

The City of St. John’s has begun the distribution of Property Assessments for 2026. Residents should receive their assessments by post mail within the upcoming weeks. Property owners can also view their current and previous year property assessments online via our Property Assessment Search Application.

Residential Re-Leaf Tree Planting: Vouchers Available

The City has opened the Residential Re-Leaf program, where St. John's residents can apply for a $200 voucher towards the purchase of a tree to plant on their property. There are 175 vouchers available.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from May 12 to 16 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation.
