The City is considering an amendment to the Envision St. John's Development Regulations respecting Heavy Equipment Storage and Vehicle Storage Yards. Currently, Section 6.20 of the Development Regulations states that heavy equipment or vehicles must not be stored or parked within 20 metres of a residential zone or a zone that allows residential uses. The proposed amendment would reduce this minimum separation distance from 20 metres to 15 metres.

Work continues on the future roundabout at Portugal Cove Road, Major’s Path, and Airport Heights Drive.
Starting Monday, May 4 at 9 a.m., work will begin to facilitate installation of a large culvert across Portugal Cove Road at Virginia River.

The City of St. John’s is making progress on the development of the Crosstown Shared-Use Path (SUP). On Monday, May 4, work is scheduled to resume near Kenny’s Pond, with all work scheduled to conclude by August 2026.
As construction continues, residents may experience traffic delays, lane reductions, and sidewalk closures within the work zone, along with temporary closures of sections of the existing trails.
