Call for Proposals - Markets on Water 2026

The City of St. John’s is inviting local event and market organizers to submit proposals to host a vendor market series on the Downtown Pedestrian Mall during the 2026 season, from July 4 to September 7.

Key Highlights: 

• The space will be provided free of charge to successful organizers.
• A market shall consist of minimum of 20 vendors to a maximum of 60 vendors.
• Markets must be comprised of predominantly local crafters & artisans (at least 75%).

Road Closure - Hebron Way: January 29, 2026

Please be advised that Hebron Way, from Sea Rose Ave to Major’s Path, is closed due to heavy drifting and poor visibility. This closure will remain in place until the weather subsides and crews can clear the area. 

Access will be maintained for businesses in the area via Torbay Road. The City of St. John’s apologizes for any inconvenience.

ChillFest 2026: February 12 to 16

ChillFest, the City of St. John’s annual winter festival, is back from February 12 to 16! This free, city-wide celebration features a wide range of activities designed for all ages and abilities.

This year’s lineup includes a skating parties, snowshoeing and skiing, aquatic fitness, MegaPlay, the Freez'n Fun Run & Stroll or Roll and more! While all events are free, some require registration, so plan ahead to secure your spot.

Description

The application is for a Place of Amusement for such events as birthday parties, baby showers, small weddings, and corporate meetings. The floor area will be approximately 219m² and operate seven days a week, 9 a.m. – 12 a.m. Parking is provided on-site.

Payment Processing Interruptions & Website Application Outages

The City of St. John’s advises residents that the following payment processes will be unavailable on January 23, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. due to scheduled system maintenance:

• In-person payments at the Access Centre 
• Over the phone and in-person payments for Permits and Inspection Services 

As a result, residents will be unable to make property tax payments or pay for property permits, applications, or licenses during this time period.
