With schools reopening the first week of September, the City of St. John’s urges everyone to stay safe in school zones.
For drivers, it's essential to adhere to reduced speed limits, pay attention to all posted signs, exercise extra caution, and never pass school buses when their lights are flashing. Stay alert for crossing guards and children, especially near crosswalks. These measures are in place to protect children as they arrive and leave school zones.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from September 3 to 7 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:

The City has received an application to rezone 231 Main Road from the Residential 1 (R1) Zone to the Residential 3 (R3) Zone to accommodate four (4) residential units in the form of Townhouses. Townhouses are a permitted use in the R3 Zone. A Municipal Plan amendment is not required.

The City of St. John’s will be hosting a Municipal Open House on Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents will have the opportunity to visit various municipal buildings and get the inside scoop on how our city operates. This is a free family friendly event open to all ages.
