There are five distinct winter parking bans that apply to City streets.
Any vehicle that impedes snow clearing or snow removal operations at any time, regardless of the winter parking bans in effect, may be ticketed or towed.
A 24-Hour parking ban is implemented on roads outside the designated downtown area and business district when required. The purpose of the ban is to keep roads free of parked vehicles so that crews can quickly and safely clear snow.
We will publish news articles when the ban is announced. Residents can receive emails stating when the parking ban will come into effect, and when it will be lifted, by subscribing to the '24 Hour Parking Ban' category, under the news section.
Once declared, the ban will be in place 24 hours a day until it is lifted.
The overnight winter parking ban for streets outside the designated downtown area will begin on Wed., Jan. 3, 2024 and will end on Fri., Apr. 5, 2024.
The ban is in effect daily and tickets can be issued to vehicles parked on the street between 12:30 and 7:30 a.m., regardless of weather and street conditions. The Deputy City Manager of Public Works has the authority to modify the parking ban dates if deemed necessary. Any vehicle impeding snow removal may be impounded at the owner's expense.

These streets are throughout the city, not just downtown. These bans are necessary so that ice control and snow clearing equipment can safely service the streets.

Scheduled snow removal in the downtown takes place from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Parking on the streets that are scheduled for snow removal is prohibited during this time. Violating winter parking bans may result in a ticket being issued, and the vehicle being towed.
