There are five distinct winter parking restrictions that apply to City streets.
Any vehicle that impedes snow clearing or snow removal operations at any time, regardless of the winter parking restrictions in effect, may be ticketed or towed.
A 24-Hour parking restriction is implemented on roads outside the designated downtown area and business district when required. The purpose of the restriction is to keep roads free of parked vehicles so that crews can quickly and safely clear snow.
We will publish news articles when the restriction is announced. Residents can receive emails stating when the parking restriction will come into effect, and when it will be lifted, by subscribing to the '24 Hour Parking Restriction' category, under the news section.
Once declared, the restriction will be in place 24 hours a day until it is lifted.
The overnight winter parking restriction applies to streets outside the designated downtown area and business district.
When the restriction is in effect, vehicles are not permitted to park on the street between 12:30 and 7:30 a.m. regardless of weather and street conditions. Tickets may be issued to vehicles parked on the street during this period. Any vehicle impeding snow removal may be impounded at the owner's expense.
During winter 2023, the overnight winter parking restriction began on Jan 4, 2023 until 4 p.m. on April 10, 2023.

From December 1 to March 31 parking is prohibited 24 hours a day, regardless of snow/street conditions, on streets with designated Snow Route signs. These streets are throughout the city, not just downtown. These restrictions are necessary so that ice control and snow clearing equipment can safely service the streets.
Enforcement is continuous for 24 hours a day from December 1 to March 31 regardless of snow or street conditions.
Scheduled snow removal in the downtown takes place from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Parking on the streets that are scheduled for snow removal is prohibited during this time. Violating winter parking restrictions may result in a ticket being issued, and the vehicle being towed.
