In recognition of World Refugee Day on June 20, 2026, the City of St. John’s is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of newcomers through a celebratory event and art exhibit, “Many Journeys, One Home”, hosted by the Association for New Canadians (ANC). This initiative highlights the achievements and contributions of newcomers as they build meaningful careers and lives in their new communities.
The celebratory event will take place on Tuesday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Foran Greene Room at City Hall. Under the theme “Celebrating Contributions and Achievements by Newcomers in Career,” the event will feature remarks from newcomers and ANC staff, video presentations highlighting personal success stories, and a photo gallery showcasing newcomers in their workplaces.
In addition to the June 23 event, a visual art exhibit titled “Many Journeys, One Home”, celebrating newcomers, will be on display in Wyatt Hall at City Hall from June 5 to June 30. The exhibit is open to the public on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The City of St. John’s is committed to being a Connected City - one where people feel a strong sense of belonging and are actively engaged in community life. Celebrating the achievements and contributions of newcomers reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural appreciation.
