The City of St. John’s and the St. John’s Regional Fire Department are recognizing May 4 to 10 as Emergency Preparedness Week. Emergency Preparedness Week is a national awareness initiative that has taken place annually since 1996.

Emergency Preparedness Week encourages Canadians to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies. Every Canadian household needs an emergency plan. It will help you and your family know what to do in case of an emergency. It will take you about 20 minutes to make your plan.
In an emergency, you will need some basic supplies. You may need to get by without power or tap water. Be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours.
